- Learning to use the GameMaker code: Learning a code is never easy, I already knew how to code Java and HTML, but learning a code specific to a program is very difficult and lengthy. Knowing this code will help me greatly in the future when I go into the game design field and give me an advantaged over other candidates for a job.
- Creating characters in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator then converting them into sprites: I already have some prior knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator so I didn't learn anything knew, however my knowledge of these programs helped me greatly as I could create very detailed characters. Converting them into sprites was no easy task, I had to basically trace what I had already made in an 8-bit mode.
- Creating a game that is easy to understand and play, but still entertaining to play: As I was creating my game I had to focus on my audience, I figured the majority of people playing my game were going to be older adults who didn't necessarily understand technology. I tried to focus more on creating a game that was simple to play but very appealing to look at, I wanted my game to be easy to understand so I could explain the process of making it in simpler terms.
